Welcome to Carndonagh Community Market, a vibrant and exciting new market selling a unique range of products, tailored to the needs of Inishowen. The Market takes place every Saturday at the Colgan Hall in Carndonagh, Co. Donegal from 12noon to 4pm, and admission is free. The Carndonagh Community Market is just that - a market run by members of the community, for the community. Our ethos is to help the local community to be more independent of the “super market” economy; make the creativity, skills and talent in our community more available to the public; raise awareness of the growing small businesses within the community and promote where we live as a vibrant and diverse place to be for locals and tourists alike.

Many of our stalls at the Market sell everyday home produced items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, home baking including breads, eggs, preserves and herbs but we also have stalls selling items such as t-shirts, fair-trade jewellery, woolcraft and handwoven baskets so there is a great range of products for customers to choose from. As all items on sale are provided by local people, either locally made or locally sourced, as much as is possible, we are keeping travel miles down, costs of imported products down, and costs of overheads down. All of this relates back to the customer in several ways - knowing that they are supporting local people, keeping money in the area, a friendly, personal service, and freshness of produce.

Not only does the Carndonagh Community Market sell various local products, we envisage it being a friendly place to gather, with music, complementary therapies, activities for children, all coming together to provide a real community atmosphere. We want to offer customers something different from what is available in the shops – we want to offer an experience to people that is unique to Carndonagh.

The Venue:
The Colgan Hall is at the centre of the community in Carndonagh. As well as a meeting place, it is a venue for classes in karate, kickboxing and Irish dancing to name a few. It also frequently stages concerts, plays and exhibitions. As such an integral part of Carndonagh, we are delighted to call this historic venue "home" for our Market.

The main Market is upstairs in the large hall while some downstairs rooms are used for children's activities, workshops, etc. There is some parking at the Hall itself although we would ask customers, where possible, to park in the town as the Colgan Hall is only a short walk from the town centre.
