Overview Swan Park occupies a delightful riverside site on the edge of Buncrana. A linear Park it follows the course of the River Crana from Wilson’s Bridge at its north-eastern extremity to the point where a small stream, crossed by a miniature hump back bridge, joins the Crana. This little bridge marks the south-western end of the feature. The Park is a little over a quarter of a mile long and is nowhere wider than forty yards. Although readily accessible from two other points, the Park is best traversed from the main north east entrance to its south-western end. The new brochure for Swan Park traces just such a course and suggests points along the footpath where visitors might like to stop for a moment, take in the view and look carefully around them to note the rich variety of local flora and fauna to be found in the area. (Please refer to the map overleaf for the whereabouts of these points which are marked by a series of numbered “leaf icons”.) Brochure available at The Anglers Center and Buncrana Tourist offices, digital version available below.

The Park’s main entrance can be found on the left hand side of the road immediately after crossing Wilson’s Bridge on the unnumbered road signposted to Dunree. The entrance is almost exactly opposite the driveway to Westbrook House, a mid-Georgian gem (built 1807) now an elegant, welcoming Guest House.
