News Inside Inishowen

Accel - Press Release

Determining the needs of the Hospitality & Tourism Industry in Inishowen has been key to the development strategy of Inishowen Tourism. Recently it was brought to our attention by Cecelia Keavney TD, that the Accel Development Grant was making funds available to companies to develop a training strategy and bring training directly to their workforce. And so Inishowen Tourism in co-operation with Austins Quality Training Services lodged with the initial application. Accel is an initiative of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment and is managed by Skillsnets Services Ltd on its behalf. The programme is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Training Fund. Funding has now been secured and a skills analysis is underway. We would like to collaborate with all hotels, restaurant and bars in Inishowen to identify specific training needs and pool resources to accelerate the training needs of people at all levels within in Inishowen. Our public meetings will bring the second part of programme to light and this is targeted at employees who want to access information on what training they feel they need to upskill and/or re-skill. Training courses that have been identified so far as being important to our industry, are marketing, customer service, budget control, food hygiene, apprenticeships to barista and wine and spirit programmes
